Week 10 at HOME (May 26-29)

I hope you all had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend! The weather was absolutely beautiful and the sunshine was a wonderful mood booster. We are starting our second to last week of learning at home… we’re almost there!!! Keep up the amazing work. I am SO incredibly thankful and proud of all that you have done with our sweek kinders! Our Zoom meeting will be tonight, so make sure to check your emails for an invite. 

Morning Message:

Good morning sweet kinders! I hope you had a fun break from school. What did you do over the long weekend? The weather was perfect to play outside in the sun.

Popcorn Words: Review – Try and spy as many popcorn words as you can in our morning message!

Math:

  • I can find the number that makes 10. For example: 5 + ? = 10, 4 + ? = 10. Kinders will be using a base 10 frame to solve the problems.
  • I can find the missing partner. For example: 2 + ? = 8 – very similar to lesson above, but the total will vary from 10.

ELA:

  • I can think about books.
    • Journal prompt: Write about a time you had to wait for something. How did you feel?
  • I can act out parts of my book.
    • Journal prompt:  What is your favorite place in the world? Why?

Reminders: 

  • You will be able to pick up your kinders’s belongings from school next week. Please refer to the email you received from Mrs. Reagan about your pickup day and time. I am working on Monday, June 1.  Maybe I will see you!  That would be so fun! 🙂
  • We will be having an end of the year parade for all of the students to see their teachers! If you would like to attend, you can find all of the information listed on our school blog.
  • Please continue to send me pictures of your kinders for our Father’s Day project!
  • When your kinder finishes an assignment in google classroom, please click the “turn in” button so we know they watched us.

Week 9 at HOME (May 18-22)

Below is an outline of what the kinders will be learning on google classroom this week. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

  • Review week – keep practicing all the words you’ve learned!

Math: 

  • I can find partners of 10. For example: 1 + 9 = 10 and 9 + 1 = 10,  2 + 8 = 10 and 8 + 2 = 10, 3 + 7 = 10 and 7 + 3 = 10, etc. 
  • I can find the missing partner. For example: 5 + ___ = 9. The kinder will practice finding the missing partner in the equation. 

ELA: 

  • I can be an avid reader.
    • Journal prompt: My favorite toy is ____ because ____. 
  • I can feel what the characters are feeling.
    • Journal prompt: Write about a time you helped your parents. How did you feel?

Week 7 at HOME—(May 4-8)

April Showers bring May flowers.  Mix in some beautiful days of sunshine and it was exciting to see flowers begin to bloom over this last week!  To be able to get outside and feel the sunshine gave my heart so much joy!  Mrs. Bohl enjoyed working in the backyard.  I hope you are enjoying some wonderful moments during these beautiful days!

Math 

  • I can find all the number partners for numbers up to 10.  For example, these are a couple of number partners that equal 10:  1 + 9 = 10, 2 + 8 = 10, 3 + 7 = 10, and so on. 
  • I can solve number stories.  For example, if I saw 5 kites flying in the air and 1 fell down, how many kites were left flying in the air?  4 kites were left flying in the air. 

ELA:

  • I can look at a Non-fiction book and tell what it is mostly about.  Journal Prompt: In the spring, I like to _____.
  • I can use Non-fiction feature power (bold words and labels).  Look for these features in a Non-fiction book.  Journal Prompt:  If I could be an animal, I would be a _____ because ____.
  • I can use Non-fiction feature power (headings, colored words).  Journal Prompt:  Write about one thing you have seen in spring and write a sentence or two about it.
