5 Stars = Extra long Choices!

We have a scoreboard in our class.  It looks like something like this.

Everyday Mrs. Bohl is keeping track of when the kinders follow directions in a snap. When we follow her directions in a snap the first time we (the kinders = you) earn a point and a collective, “Oh yeah!” can be heard.  When Mrs. Bohl has to repeat directions and it takes the kinders another try to follow directions then she (Mrs. Bohl = me) earns a point.  A collective, “Oh man” can be heard. When the kinders have more points on the scoreboard than Mrs. Bohl, a blue star goes up on the wall.

This week we reached our goal of 5 stars!  Hooray!

We rewarded our hard work by having an extra long time of CHOICES.  Here are a few pictures of what the kinders did during this time.  Way to go, kinders!  Congratulations!

Report Cards and Conferences

Last week a Parent Teacher Conference reminder slip was sent home.  This slip had your conference date and time on it.  Our conferences will be held in our classroom and will be 15 minutes in length.  During our conferences, I will give you your kinders report card.  We will have the opportunity to discuss the report card and I will share your kinder’s progress with you. I am very excited to see you!

The school Book Fair will also be open during our conference evenings….Monday and Wednesday.  You are welcome to stop in and purchase books if you would like.  As a class, we will  be previewing the books on Monday and your kinder will be bringing home a wish list of books.  Our class is scheduled to purchase books on Wednesday. If you would like to purchase books, please send the money in a labeled envelope.  There will be parent volunteers available to assist the kinders in their purchases.  Please contact me if you have any questions at

To all Veterans….THANK YOU!

Today we learned about Veterans Day.  We talked about what is a hero and listed people who we thought are heroes.

We read a sweet book entitled Hero Dad to help us learn more about what people in the military do. It was fun to make soldiers wearing camouflage.

We learned that a veteran is someone who served in the military by reading a newspaper.

Thank you to ALL veterans and service men and women, for your service!

The annual P.E. C.A.R.E.S food drive will be starting on November 6.

We are asking for your help by bringing in non-perishable food items for Love Inc. in Hudsonville. Food items to consider are canned vegetables and fruits, pasta, rice, baked beans, black beans, kidney beans, peanut butter, tuna fish, etc.
(please no ramen noodles)

The food drive will continue until Nov. 21. We will be keeping track of how many items each class brings in for the food drive. The class with the most items at the end of the day on Nov. 21 will win a bowling trip to Hudsonville Lanes and a P.E. C.A.R.E.S t-shirt.

This is a great opportunity for our students to care for their community.  If you have any questions please contact  Mrs. Nienhuis and Mrs. VanKoevering.
